- Hoodia Gordonii gets harvested in chip form.
- Then dried
- Milled
- Irradiated
- Shipped
We carry reasonable stock in chip form
(depending on the season, during summer months we have very little to
zero stock) the chips can only be milled when it is properly dried
(crisp dried).
The milling process only takes place
once an order is confirmed.
Milling the product at this late stage ensures that the hoodia is fresh.
(We do not keep milled Hoodia in storage).
CITIES Permit: express permit takes 2 days.
Application for permits can only take place once the order is confirmed
(money in our account)
As you may have noted the customer details along with the supplier name
is reflected on the permit.
Nature conservation keep records of the
Hoodia Gordonii stock in my possession, who I sold it to and when it was harvested and
if the total sum equal my quota. (they keep a full paper trail of each
and every kilogram from time of harvest till it leaves our shores.
If for example a customer does not fulfill an order obligation (make
payment to our bank) and the permits was issued we then have to cancel
the permit with nature conservation this can be frustrating, time
consuming and expensive, as the entire procedure along with all other
documentation will the have to be reversed. This can lead to delays with
orders next in line.
Hoodia Irradiation process.
This takes a minimum of 3 days with advance booking. Although this
process is fairly straight forward, once the product is irradiated it
must be stored for 24 hours before it can be handled by someone without
protective clothing.
Lastly the booking with airline can
only be confirmed once the above is completed.
Departure date is subject to cargo space. (this is beyond our control)
as all airlines are extremely busy during this period in South Africa.
As you can see from the above the
operations are time consuming, with no shortcuts.
Sometimes we ship with-in 4 days that is if we have product (dried
chips) available.
As previously mentioned in my email to Jen. This time of the year
(almost summer Hoodia is extremely scarce and therefore we do not have
much stock, hence the delays.
Hoodia Gordonii Seeds.
Seeds
appears once a year especially after substantial rainfall. The flowers
starts to bloom and thereafter the seeds appear. Flowering time depends
on the region and amount of rainfall. Back
